IN LIFE AND IN DEATH WE BELONG TO GOD:
The Congregational Continuum of Care in the Presbyterian Church
Reflections, realities and practices at the end of life.
A conference for church members, pastors, and health care professionals.
March 12-14, 2007 • Durham, North Carolina

How can we care for one another in death the way we have in life? Faith communities are seeking to develop intentional practices of caring for people at the end of life that are theologically informed, rooted in the traditions of the church, and informed by the best health care practices. Join church members, pastors and health care professionals from across the country in exploring the theological, medical and practical dimensions of end-of-life care and how to put that knowledge into practice.

Conference Objectives
  • Hear from leading theologians, church leaders, and health care professionals about the spiritual and medical dimensions of end-of-life care.
  • Discover existing congregational practices for providing care at the end of life.
  • Learn about theological, liturgical and health ministry resources in the Presbyterian Church that can inform congregational and personal practices of caring for people at life’s end.
  • Find out about the Duke Institute on Care at the End of Life’s work to improve the care and suffering of dying patients and their families.
