Being with those who are seriously ill is an integral part of clinical practice, yet many clinicians and caregivers lack the specialized training that develops mental qualities and practical skills to assist them in providing mindful and compassionate care. This one-day seminar is designed as an experiential learning process for clinicians to explore contemplative approaches to caring for those who are seriously ill.
The training provides effective self-care tools developed Roshi Joan Halifax Ph.D., a Buddhist teacher, Zen priest, anthropologist, and author, to reduce burnout and secondary trauma that can be prevalent among professionals working in health care. Lunch will be provided.
This program is co-sponsored by the Duke Institute on Care at the End of Life and Project Compassion.
