A Conversation with Tom Long and Allen Verhey

Dr. Thomas G. Long will appear at 9 a.m. on Oct. 12 at First Presbyterian Church  in Durham to read from his new book, Accompany Them With Singing: The Christian Funeral. Dr. Long, Brandy Professor of Preaching at Candler School of Theology, Emory University, is a well-known and respected theological leader. In the book, he provides a theological and cultural critique of today’s Christian funeral.

Following the reading, Allen Verhey, Professor of Christian Ethics at Duke Divinity School and resident faculty at the Duke Institute on Care at the End of Life, will lead a public discussion.
